G'day from Australia.I recently heard the song 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' & was taken back to a Detroit visit in 1984 to meet family there. My Aunt was a war bride!
I traveled the lakes & understand well the term "Great" & have seen the grand majesty of these wonders! Could you if possible please pass on Mine & my family's warmest condolences & prayers to the families of the S.S Edmund Fitzgerald. Let it be known that there are people who live way down under the globe who hold this place in there hearts! Thank you.

In the web site it was noted that more underwater surveys of the shoals were planned, especially in an area where rocks were disturbed and red paint was seen. Is there any new information or has there been any more surveys of the area?

This should be done in the interest of safety at the very least.

Please describe the damage of the stern bottom and where can I go to see the photo's? (length of scratches can be measured and compared to known speed to see if consistant with contact)  Also paint samples (off rocks/stern bottom) can be analyzed for batch comparison; if match then you know what happened.

Additionally the wreck is now off limits for diving; but if the families knew what happened would that not bring them some peace? With the current technology we have it would greatly help in narrowing down exactly what happened.

Best Regards

Would like to have a free post card of the Big Fitz.  I'm 54 and on Nov. 10, 1975 is was a 19 yr. old teenager and I remember hearing about the sinking on the radio as I was riding around town.  I've been to White Fish Pointe many times.  I wish they would place a marker on the shore or walk way, pointing to the place where the Fitzgerald lay.--Thank You

I first came to know of this ship in the song ''The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald'' By Gordon Lightfoot. I had no idea it was an actual real wreck Until I bgan to reaserch it on google. It spiked my curiosity and I would like to know more about it if anyone can tell me about it.If any of the crews Childeren could tell me a little about it I would appreciate it, Im still reaserching it on here and would like to know more The song made me cry and is a good tribute to those men lost in the wreck. May God be with their families as the 35th anniversery of the wreck comes close my prayers are with you all as Im sure the memory of this is very hard.
